This is one of the best times to utilize aromatherapy, especially to help induce calmness and comfort. If aromatherapy is used in conjunction with other forms of natural pain relief, such as self-hypnosis, visualization, Lamaze and massage, the need for mainstream pain medicines may evaporate.

For labor only, diffusing Jasmine in the room can help stimulate the contractions and promote calming. Also used for labor time only is Clary Sage.
