Nausea
Feelings of nausea can also be addressed with essential oils. Ginger,
fennel, and peppermint can be combined with a carrier oil and used to
massage the abdomen. The combination can also be used in a bath. Or, it
can be used in a compressed and applied to the abdomen or used as an
inhalation. If the nausea persists for more than three days or if it is
accompanied by a high fever or vomiting, however, you should consult a
physician.
Sinusitis
Sinusitis is the inflammation and subsequent blockage of nasal sinuses.
After being clogged for a long period of time, nasal sinuses also become
more likely to become infected. Toothache, earache, facial pain,
difficulty breathing, cough, and fever often accompany sinusitis. To
alleviate sinusitis, combine eucalyptus, bergamot, and peppermint and
use as an inhalation treatment. Or, add a few drops of the mixture to a
carrier oil. Then massage from inside the eyebrows to the temples and
around the base of the head.
Sore Throat
For a sore throat, combine lemon, tea tree, and lavender with a carrier
oil. Use the combination to massage the shoulders and neck in a downward
motion. Or, the combination can be added to bath water. If the symptoms
don’t go away in a few days, or if they become worse, you should consult
a physician.
Toothaches
The tooth decaying usually causes toothaches. The decay reaches into the
pulp inside the tooth that contains the nerves, resulting in pain. A
toothache, if left untreated, can become infected. To treat a toothache,
combine peppermint and clove into a cold compress and apply to the
affected area. You can also place one or two drops onto a cotton ball
and apply to the gums around the affected area. Of course, this should
only be used to temporarily alleviate the symptoms, but you should seek
assistance from a dentist to prevent infection from developing.
Essential oils, with their wide variety of purposes and time-tested
usefulness, are better than using vitamins and herbs to treat and
prevent body ailments.
