Essential oils can also be used to enhance the appearance of hair. For
individuals with dark hair, add a few drops of rosemary to a pitcher of
warm water and use as a final rinse. For light hair, do the same, but
with chamomile instead.
If you suffer from dandruff, which is caused by skin on the scalp
flaking rapidly, you can create a hair tonic from essential oils. To
make this tonic, mix a few drops each of lemongrass, lavender, and
rosemary into seven fluid ounces of distilled water. Add two teaspoons
of cider vinegar to the mix and shake well. Keep the mixture in a dark
bottle and massage it into your scalp a few times every week. If the
symptoms do not go away, or if they worsen, ask your doctor for advice.
If you suffer from alopecia, which is baldness or hair loss, you can use
essential oils to help prevent further loss. Aging, heredity, acute
illness, hormones, vitamin and mineral deficiency, and stress can cause
alopecia. To treat hair loss, combine thyme or rosemary with a carrier
oil and massage it into your scalp. Also, be sure to avoid blow dryers,
curling irons, or other heated appliances. These only serve to encourage
breakage and cause further damage or loss of hair.
Essential oils do not only help maintain beautiful hair and skin, they
can help reverse the damage, as well. When used as a regular part of a
beauty routine, the results can be outstanding.
