Helping the Body

There is nothing better than taking a nice, relaxing bath to calm and relax yourself...

There is nothing better than taking a nice, relaxing bath to calm your body down, to soothe tired feet, or to reenergize your body. To get the most out of your bath, add ten drops of essential oil to the water. Close the doors and windows to keep the steam from the bath in the room with you – and sit back and relax!

Relaxation

To help relax your body, add equal amounts of lavender, cedanwood, and bergamot to your bathwater. If you need to calm your nerves, add 4 drops of basil and 6 drops of geranium to your water. To treat insomnia, add 2 drops of lavender, 2 drops of marjoram, 2 drops of neroli, and 4 drops of chamomile to your bath water. If you are looking to reenergize your body, and 2 drops of frankincense, 3 drops of rosemary, and 2 drops of lemon to your water.

Arthritis

Of course, you might need more than just help relaxing or re-energizing the body. If you have arthritis, for example, you need to bathe with essential oils that will help alleviate the swelling, pain, and stiffness associated with arthritis. To do this, combine lavender, rosemary, and juniper in your bath water and soak for 15 minutes. This combination can also be used as a massage oil for the affected area, though joints that are swollen or inflamed should not be massaged.

Poor Circulation

Poor circulation is another problem that affects the entire body. Smoking, heredity, poor diet, stress, and varicose veins can bring on poor circulation. Symptoms of poor circulation include feelings of cold and numbness, particularly in areas such as the feet and hands. To treat poor circulation, add ten drops of geranium to your bath water. Geranium can also be combined with carrier oil to create a massage oil. In extreme cases of poor circulation, however, be sure to consult a physician. Poor circulation can be a sign of dangerous health problems.
